A Korwar or ancestor figure from Papua New Guinea. This is a typical example of the seated deceased ancestor whose presence in the home would protect the family. This is an example of Oceanic art which influenced the Surrealist movement in the last century. Pieces such as these are found in Museums worldwide. It is a serene and characterful figure which can be displayed singly as an artwork or in a curated collection of similar handcrafted artworks.
