This antique Chinese official’s hat chair features the classic high crest rail and gently splayed back posts that echo the profile of a traditional court hat. A dark brown lacquered finish is softly distressed, allowing glimpses of the timber beneath and giving the piece a lived-in, museum-like quality. Use it as an occasional chair in a hallway, living room or bedroom corner, where its tall back, slender arms and historical character lend vertical emphasis and quiet formality to your interior.
