Crackled glazing, or 'craquelure', is an ancient art form and one of the first glazes used by potters. It's a special effect which imitates the natural aging, or patina, of ceramics. And on the Chinese Celadon Meiping Vase it gives a sophisticated edge. Shapely and surprisingly modern --- meiping is a pottery style that imitates the body of a young female ---  this vase will sit nicely anywhere it can be fully admired, in any room in the house
