This mask is a traditional part of important ceremonies in Guro culture. This tribe from the Ivory Coast of West Africa still uses these symbols of spiritual beings to protect them and to honour their gods. It is a beautiful and lovingly detailed sculpture and would add dramatic impact as a standalone artwork or part of a collection of primitive art.
