This stunning carved panel is the traditional work of the Toraja people of the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is exuberant in design and lightly patinated with distressed paint highlights. The whole is framed in meticulous carved detail, more restrained than the main decorative motifs. It would make a dramatic statement mounted on a wall in a room furnished to highlight the artwork itself.
