This large Lobi clay pot from Burkina Faso has a wonderfully full, rounded body raised on a low foot, with a fitted lid that echoes its generous curves. Hundreds of raised clay nodules cover the surface, creating an extraordinary tactile pattern and giving the earthenware its distinctive, almost organic appearance. The soft, timeworn terracotta tones make it a compelling feature on a floor, hearth or substantial console, where it can be appreciated as a standalone piece of African art.
